Together, Coaches Brown and Martin have created the Arizona Snipers Sports Academy to provide high-quality programs that focus on athletics, education, mental health, and leadership for the youth of Maricopa.
Marvelle Brown brings over 25 years of experience in coaching and officiating at various levels, from grade school to professional athletes. His dedication to youth development is unparalleled.
Jayme Martin has been passionate about sports since childhood, coaching multiple sports and supporting athletes through their educational journeys. Her commitment to holistic youth development is evident in her work.
Marvelle Brown
My personal experience has been well over 25 years in either coaching or officiating athletes at a very high level from grade school level to college all the way to the pro ranks. We moved from Wisconsin in 2020. Once in Arizona, we volunteered for another club program based out of Avondale. During that time we coached players of varying skill levels including some who have never touched a basketball before. We experienced a lot of success even working with high school students who were just being introduced to basketball and we helped develop them so they made their high school teams. We understand becoming a high caliber basketball player takes a lot of time, practice and effort by everyone involved. We moved to Maricopa in October, 2023. At that time we were looking for ways to impact our community. We realized the community was lacking a serious basketball club and the athletes of this community were not being served properly. We decided to take this on ourselves and develop a program to build future leaders and athletes. We felt the athletes of Maricopa deserved their own club program. Our program focuses on skill development, basketball IQ, education, mental health, and leadership development.
I currently work a Grand Canyon University. I also served active duty for 13 years in the Marine Corps where I served two tours in Iraq and one tour in Somalia. I have always had a passion for giving back, especially to our youth. Following my military service, I was employed as a PE teacher, a computer instructor. and an athletic director. I’ve always had my hand in youth sports on some level.
Through my 25 years of officiating and coaching in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, I have had the pleasure to be involved with many athletes including current high school athletes: Isaiah Robinson, Nyajuacni Riak, Thian Riak, Mariah Brownlee, John Jock, and K’shawn Gibbs; former NFL athlete: Jester Weah; professional overseas basketball player: Makailah Dyer; current college athletes: Mason Brown (soccer), Dominik McVay (baseball), and Arhman Lewis; and current NBA players: Jayson Tatum, Tyrese Halliburton, Tyler Herro, Chet Holmgren, Brandin Podziemski, Jalen Suggs, Jalen Johnson, Jalen Brunson, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Myles Turner, Kevon Looney, Karl-Anthony Towns, D’Angelo Russell, Max Christie, Jordan Poole, Bradley Beal, Anthony Black, Jevon Carter, Ayo Dosunmu, Patrick Baldwin, Jr., and Keyshawn Justice. I am excited to bring this experience and opportunity to Maricopa to help develop their athletes and take their love of this sport to the highest level possible.
I strongly believe in this community and in being a positive, productive person in the community. This program is about more than just basketball. It is about creating well-rounded, positive youth who create the future they want for themselves. I have connections with college recruiters and the ability to help athletes get scholarships and receive other benefits through sports.
Jayme Martin
Sports have been a passion of mine from an early age. I began playing while in elementary school and it has been in my life since then. I started coaching by volunteering at my elementary school. I coached a variety of sports during that time. I continued coaching through college while helping to run after school programs and summer programs.
Once I completed college, I began my journey I education. I taught a variety of grades in different school throughout Milwaukee. While teaching, I continued to coach as well. While I coached a number of different sports, basketball was my primary sport.
A number of the athletes I coached went on to play in college as Division 1, Division 2, Division 3 and Junior College athletes. I also have coached athletes who have gone on to play in the NBA. Through my years of coaching, I have supported athletes and families through the recruiting process and worked with athletes to prepare for the ACT.
Education has always been a priority for me. I believe that a strong education is key for the success of any student in the future. I also believe there are a number of ways to get a college degree and become a successful adult.
Arizona Snipers Sports Academy was developed and designed to ensure athletes in Maricopa are provided a high quality program. The focus of the program not only focuses on athletics but also on education, mental health, and leadership. Athletes in Maricopa are deserving of a program that will truly support them and develop them regardless of their future goals.
